Wedding Video Cinematic LookOne of the perceived drawbacks of digital video production using the Standard Definition 25 MB per second capture and compression system is a flat looking picture, usually considered a cold picture compared to the warm cinematic picture we're used to when going to the movies. Some believe it is the result of the interlaced picture system Digital Video uses. The interlaced picture is a system that divides the picture in two and the video is played by constantly interlacing the video one half a frame at a time with next one half frame. Hollywood movies are created using the progressive capture and compression system that does not divide a frame in two but displays the entire frame, one frame after another, to create the moving picture. Most perceive this as a warmer picture with more depth and more pleasant and life-like. The new High Definition Sony cameras capture and compress video using the Progressive system. If you want the cimematic look you may need to use High Definition cameras to capture your Wedding media. Standard Definition video can be "warmed up" in post processing, somewhat, to attempt to create the "Cinematic Look". |
